Serbian GIS Association
Serbian GIS Association is a non-governmental and non-profit professional association founded to achieve the goals in the field of professionalization, promotion, implementation and development of geographic information system, connecting GIS experts and jointly representing the interests of members of society.
GIS enthusiasts employed by local governments, public companies and private companies, as well as freelancers in Serbia, formed the professional association "Serbian GIS Association" at the Founding Assembly held on May 15 in Belgrade.
The main goal of forming a GIS association is the professionalization, more efficient implementation and development of the Geographic Information System (GIS) and connecting GIS experts through the exchange of knowledge and experience, then providing expert assistance, popularization and affirmation of GIS, respecting the principles of quality and efficiency, defining working places for GIS in local governments, public and other enterprises and organizations, increasing the number of direct and indirect users of GIS, improving the information of citizens, legal entities and other users and promoting GIS through publishing.
At the Founding Assembly "Serbian GIS Association", the founding act was adopted, the Statute was adopted and the Management and Supervisory Board was elected, as well as the authorized persons for representing the association. Miodrag Bogunovic of Zrenjanin was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Aleksandrar Matejevic of Aleksinac was his deputy. The Steering Board is formed on the regional principle and consists of: Dejan Vujic from Sabac, Predrag Dimitrijevic from Kragujevac and Ivica Milojevic from Krusevac. The following were elected members of the Supervisory Board: Aleksandar Avramović from Kraljevo, Đerđika Mrđanov from Subotica and Zarko Iskrenov from Surdulica.
